Quincy, Illinois

1479 Hampshire Street - (217) 222-5468
Sunday Services and Sunday School at 10:45 a.m.

The Board of Trustees of Quincy's Unitarian Church is suspending in-person worship services and all other group activities conducted in our church facilities. This decision was made to comply with guidance from public health authorities, and to do our part to help slow the spread of novel coronavirus (and the resulting disease, COVID-19). This suspension will remain in effect until April 6, and will be subject to change depending on future public health directives.

During this time of social distancing we are worshipping online with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of La Crosse. An email will go out to members & friends on the day prior to the service with access instructions and the order of service.

Thursday, April 2:
12:30 p.m. - Zoom Check In with Rev. Krista.
Friday, April 3:
6:30 - 7:30 pm - First Friday Celebration on Zoom.
Sunday, April 5:
10:00 a.m. - Sunday Service: "Where the Divine Dwells." Speaker: George Grimm-Howell, a seminary student at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Unitarian Universalists have seen the temple of our faith deconstructed and rebuilt time and again as we grapple with an ever-evolving sense of truth and divinity. Where, for you, does the divine dwell?
Sunday, April 12:
10:00 a.m. - Sunday Service: "Passover and Easter Respond to the Coronavirus." Speaker: Rev. Krista Taves. Both Passover and Easter are religious observances that find hope and release in dark times. How do they speak to us as we distance socially and stay connected?
Sunday, April 19:
10:00 a.m. - Sunday Service: "Anchoring the Divine in the Natural World." Speaker: Rev. Krista Taves. In our pluralistic post-Christian liberal religious tradition, we have often turned to nature to find shared symbols and experiences of the divine as we understand it.
Tentative: Saturday, April 25:
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. -- Quincy Unitarian Church's 48th Annual Plant, Book and Bake Sale. With the current health concerns, the Plant, Bake, & Book sale committee (at least at this moment) is planning to move the Plant and Book sale to Saturday, May 9th. We have many great plants that are growing bigger every day and will be ready to be planted by then.
Sunday, April 26:
10:00 a.m. - Sunday Service: "The Divine in Each Human Face." Speaker: Julie McDermid and Mark Schimpf. Julie and Mark both serve with Catholic Charities in La Crosse, working directly with those most impacted by poverty and homelessness. They will share their experience of affirming and supporting the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
