Spirit in Aging." Speaker: Rev. Bruce Marshall. Each
of us is getting older. Year by year, day by day, hour by
hour. With aging, comes change. How do we approach the
changes that aging brings? In this service, I'll draw
upon my book, just published, which considers how people in
their later years address questions of meaning and spirit.
Copies of the book - In Later Years - will be
Following the Service - A Committee Fair.

- Sunday, September 30:
- 10:45 a.m. - Sunday Service: "What's the Opposite of Transcendence?" Speaker: Doug Muder. Transcendence is such an exalted concept in religion that at first I thought its opposite must be some horrible demonic thing. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the opposite has its own value, and is related to our human need to lose ourselves in games and stories and puzzles. Eventually I came to believe that transcendence and its opposite form a complementary pair, and each has a role to play in a healthy spiritual life.
